ASTA, Inc. was established in 2006 believing that developing a novel next-generation diagnostic system more efficient than the existing diagnosis of diseases is a key to overcome the disease. ASTA claims that the diagnosis technology based on the MALDI-TOF MS awarded with the Nobel Prize will replace the existing diagnosis method, especially in biomaterial analysis. We have focused on research and development for the past 10 years to develop core technologies. In 2014, we developed and commercialized all new next generation diagnostic systems, platforms, sample plates, and diagnostic software programs with the support of the Korean government.
MicroIDSys and MicroIDSys Elite analyze samples using a MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer and performs identification using the obtained sample spectrum. MALDI-TOF mass spectrometer is an analytical instrument that utilizes MALDI process to ionize the sample components, transmits the generated ions to the detector, and analyzes the mass of the ions by measuring TOF time that is time taking the ions to reach the detector.
