Abbott Korea: Global viral surveillance program

Through the Global Surveillance Program, blood samples are being actively collected from 41 countries on six continents, including Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines. The database over 60,000 samples, resulting in over 5,000 different viral sequences is the resource for designing the HIV and hepatitis diagnostic tests. The global surveillance program has been established for development of “best-in-class” assays and will contribute to improve the quality and reliability of testing with continued collaboration with research and clinical foundations.

Siemens Healthineers Ltd.: Laboratory medicine & clinical practice guides: Utilizing high-sensitivity cardiac troponin assays to assist in improved early diagnostics and risk assessment of myocardial injury

This workshop will address laboratory practice recommendations, along IFCC C-CB and AACC Academy guidelines, for the implementation of high-sensitivity cardiac troponin (hs-cTn) assays into clinical practice. Differentiation of myocardial injury and myocardial infarction, along the Fourth Universal Definition of Myocardial Infarction guidelines, will be discussed, and the performance of hs-cTn assays in early rule-out and rule-in algorithms will be examined.
